At Ripple, we believe that little changes can add up to big results. Whether you’re trying to get a little more protein, eat less sugar, or leave a lighter footprint on Earth, those things you do every day add up, and create a ripple effect on your health and the health of our world.
Ripple is built on the truth that even the smallest actions can have far-reaching impacts. We think good food should be simple. And for food to be good, it should taste great, nourish your body and leave a small footprint on our Earth.
Ripple is dairy-free as it should be, which is nutritious and delicious. We believe that the recipe for healthy living is actually really easy. Maybe you’re trying to eat a few more vegetables or a little less meat. Whatever the choice and no matter how small, the great thing about those little choices is that they all add up. Changing the way you eat can have a ripple effect on how you live. We don’t claim that making plant-based foods will change the world...but we think it could help.
Ripple Foods was co-founded by Adam Lowry and Dr. Neil Renninger. Adam is a co-founder of Method Products, which revolutionized the home, fabric, and personal products industry. Neil is a renowned technologist, who co-founded and served as Chief Technical Officer for Amyris, Inc., a publicly traded renewable products company. They came together to create Ripple Foods to accelerate a healthier, more sustainable food and agriculture industry.

Ripple was founded to make the world a better place. Improving sustainability in the industry is central to Ripple’s design and company ethos. One pound of yellow split peas produces less than 1/3 of a pound of CO2e. For comparison, a gallon of dairy milk produces 17.6 lbs of CO2e. And it takes 1000 gallons of water to make just 1 gallon of dairy milk and nearly 6x more water to get the same amount of protein from almond milk than it does from our flagship product Ripple Milk. Ripple products are by far the best option for consumers who want to make healthier, eco-friendly choices.
Absolutely. Ripple Milk and Half and Half bottles are made from PET plastic, and since PET is one of the most recycled plastics in America, they can be recycled. Ripple On-The-Go Milk cartons, 32oz Shelf-Stable Milk packages, and Protein Shake cartons are recyclable in the significant majority of households in the U.S. Ripple Protein Shake bottles are made from HDPE #2 plastic, which is also widely recyclable across the country. Our Ripple product caps are #5 plastic, polypropylene, for recycling purposes. Check with your local recycling center to find out the guidelines for your area.
We realize we have a huge plastic problem on land and in the oceans, and we believe that any practical step towards increased sustainable living is worth the effort. We use tetra cartons for our shelf-stable products, but we're committed to 100% recyclable PET plastic for our flagship milks for optimal sustainability because plastic actually has a much more positive end-of-life story than paperboard.
Paperboard cartons, which contain a layer of virgin plastic (about 20%—25% of "cardboard" packaging is plastic), often end up in landfills because relatively few recycling facilities are equipped to separate the two materials. This is just the disappointing truth. Conversely, PET is recycled at higher rates than any other plastic, and 94% of households in the US have access to PET recycling.
After a disruption in supply due to the pandemic, we are excited to once again be able to use PCR PET for Ripple milk bottles. This is consistent with Ripple's circular approach—we want our packaging to "have a past and a future," i.e., be made from recyclable materials that will get recycled again. Using existing, recycled, recyclable plastic wherever possible supports the movement towards decreased plastic manufacture and increased demand for plastic recycling plants worldwide.
While recycling rates in the US for plastic are still growing, there are a few important points beyond just the overall recycling rate in the US that are important to consider in designing a package for our milk. PET is recycled at higher rates than any other plastic in the US, and it would be even higher, except most people don't recycle; they just throw everything in the trash. However, many Ripple consumers do recycle, and in the US, 94% of households have access to PET recycling. Furthermore (and importantly), because our bottles are clear PET - the most versatile option - if you put them in the recycling bin, there is a very high chance the material will get turned into more PCR PET, in contrast with paperboard cartons, which almost always end up in landfills.
Ripple products are made from the protein of yellow split peas which provides a higher protein content than dairy alternatives such as almond and coconut milk.
Peas are best grown in cold weather climates that have a lot of natural rainfall, so they need little or no irrigation. The majority of Ripple’s peas are sourced from the U.S. Midwest and Canada. Occasionally we supplement with peas from Europe. No matter where we source our peas from, we always ensure that our high quality standards are met.
Ripple products are Non-GMO Project Verified as indicated by the seal on our labels. The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit collaboration of manufacturers, retailers, farmers, and consumers dedicated to ensuring the availability of non-GMO foods and beverages. Their seal gives shoppers the assurance that a product has completed a comprehensive third-party verification for compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard.
No, Ripple products do not contain carrageenan.
Ripple uses only cane sugar as a sweetener in our Original and flavored milks and in our Kids Milk. In addition to cane sugar, our Ripple Nutrition Protein Shakes are also sweetened with monk fruit, a calorie-free plant-based sweetener. And we have several unsweetened options in our product line for those who prefer no added sugar or sweetening.
We use high oleic sunflower and/or safflower oil. These oils contain 6 times fewer omega 6s than most conventional oils and are nutritionally very similar to olive oil. Our oils are expeller pressed which means no chemicals were used to extract the oil from the seed.
Ripple’s natural flavors are vegan, contain no artificial sweeteners and colors, and no MSG. We work with a small group of suppliers to develop natural flavors from botanical extracts and natural essences that create delicious plant-based products. The recipes for these natural flavors are closely guarded by our partners, so we cannot share the details of our formulations, but all the ingredients we use are safe and approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Yes. Our 48oz bottles need to be kept refrigerated both before and after opening. We do make some of our flavors in shelf stable cartons that do not need refrigeration before you open them.
Ripple’s refrigerated products will stay fresh in your refrigerator until the date printed on the bottle. Once opened, they should be consumed within 7-10 days. It is not unusual for Ripple Milk to remain good past the 10-day mark; however, we only guarantee that it will be good for 7-10 days once opened.
We don’t recommend it. Although freezing does not affect their safety or nutritional value, Ripple products could change in texture once thawed. However, Ripple Milk works great in frozen dessert recipes! Please visit our recipe blog for some inspiration.

Ripple Kids Milk was developed with Pediatricians to deliver key nutrients specific for growing kids. In addition to the 8g of plant-based protein from peas, Ripple Kids has 50mg DHA, choline, and prebiotic fiber for growing bodies, along with many of the essential nutrients found in dairy milk - calcium, magnesium, riboflavin, and vitamins A, D, and B12. It is made without soy, nuts, lactose, gluten and carrageenans and it is Non-GMO Project verified. And most important, it delivers the same creamy and delicious taste kids love! Ripple Kids Milk is currently available in Original and Unsweetened Original flavors.
No, our products are not designed to be a replacement for breast milk or infant formula.
Generally, mothers begin introducing dairy or nondairy milk to their babies around the age of 12 months. For practical advice, talk to your baby’s pediatrician.
One serving of Kids Milk contains 55mg choline, 50mg DHA and 2g of fiber-based prebiotics.
Ripple Kids is supplemented with DHA, a long chain omega-3 fatty acid. It is a structural component of human membrane and the predominant omega-3 found in the brain recognized as essential for normal brain function. Childhood is a period of brain growth and maturation which requires adequate levels of DHA to support that growth. Some studies show improvements in cognition and behavior as the result of supplementation with polyunsaturated fatty acids including DHA.
Our DHA is from plant-based (algae) algal oil and is vegan.
Each 8oz serving of Ripple Kids contains a total of 8g fat. The majority of the fat in Ripple Kids is considered ‘healthy fat’, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, with 6g monounsaturated fat, 1g polyunsaturated fat, 1g saturated fat, zero trans-fat. These ‘healthy fats' are key for brain and nerve growth, especially for toddlers.
Choline is classified as an essential nutrient, which means it must be derived from the food we eat. It has a vital role in cellular growth and metabolism and research has suggested that the interactions between choline and DHA support roles in brain and eye health. Our bodies can make choline, but not in sufficient quantity to maintain health.
The prebiotics in Ripple Kids are soluble fibers that act as food for the healthy microbes (beneficial bacteria) in the gut. They confer a health benefit to children by helping promote a healthy gut and have also been associated with the absorption of calcium, for building bones.
The prebiotics we use is a soluble corn fiber. It is much easier on the stomach than fiber from agave, sunchokes or chicory root.
Probiotics are the actual beneficial bacteria themselves whereas prebiotics are nutrients that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. Both are beneficial to health, but recent studies have suggested that the consumption of prebiotics through a balanced diet may be a better way to achieve long term success in achieving a healthy gut microbiome.
No. The processing method used in order to provide a safe product does not allow for the addition of probiotics.
Yes, the prebiotics come from a soluble corn fiber and there is a very small amount of corn in one of the natural flavors in our Kids Milk.

Ripple 32oz Shelf Stable milk is available in Original, Chocolate, and Ripple Kids Original flavors.
The processing of our refrigerated milks and our shelf stable milks is the same. It is the filling and temperature that is different. Shelf stability is achieved by the method of fill itself, and the temperature at which it is filled:
For our 48oz bottles, we package using ESL filling equipment. This means our milk products have extended shelf life under refrigerated conditions - up to 120 days at the moment. Our product is thermally processed and then filled 'aseptically' into the bottle. There are different ‘classes’ of aseptic fillers. We are using a filler suitable for refrigerated products for that specific product.
For our carton products, the filling temperature in the aseptic process is higher in order to properly sterilize the package and the product.
Convenience! Ripple Shelf Stable Milk offers a convenient way to stock up on Ripple. Store it in your pantry for when you need it. It also makes traveling with our milk easier, as it doesn’t need refrigeration prior to opening.
Ripple Original and Chocolate milks nutritional profiles are very similar to our flagship Ripple 48oz refrigerated Milk, with the same creamy, satisfying taste. It contains the same high quality pea protein isolate, and provides Vitamin D, Calcium, Potassium, Vitamin A and B12. We added Riboflavin and Magnesium to our Original and Chocolate Shelf-Stable Milks to meet USDA requirements for milk alternatives in schools and daycare centers. There are other very slight nutritional differences between the refrigerated and shelf-stable milks. You can see a comparison chart here.
Ripple Kids Original 48oz refrigerated bottles and 32oz Shelf Stable cartons have the same nutritional profiles. The shelf stable milk includes mixed tocopherols which are natural antioxidants to support the longer shelf life.
